Eatonville Town Hall begins with a beautiful story that dates back to 1880. Newly freed slaves settled in 1880, the men labored relentlessly in clearing land, banded together to build family homes, hotels, and a railroad system, and even planted their own crops and citrus groves. And on August 15, 1887, Eatonville became the first town governed and incorporated by African American citizens!
